our team

sunday (they/them) is a Black Indigenous queer non-binary disabled Autist/artist, community herbalist & organizer from so-called Albuquerque, NM. They run Serenus Herbs and the Serenus Herb Bank, a care network that provides dozens of Black &/or Indigenous folks across the U.S./Canada with free herbal care packages each month. Prior to founding moonpence farm, they spent a decade co-running DIY music/art spaces and curating shows in NYC before moving home to New Mexico. When they aren't formulating or brewing potions you'll find them in the mountains, laid up with a heating pad, reading Golden Age detective fiction or analyzing soft horror. Fellow covid-cautious sickos are invited to follow them here.

sunday's picks

native plant:
the confusingly delicate yet woody Apache Plume (Fallugia paradoxa)

song:

max (he/him) is a queer Latinx foo from SoCal. A keen drummer, max worked as a touring musician, show booker and, when home in New York, bartender for many years (until lack of covid-precautions in community spaces put the kibosh on most fun). max is the caretaker around these parts (for both the farm and his partner sunday). He can be found lifting heavy stuff and fastening things to other things with screws or even nails. For fun, max likes spending time with his 3 dogs (one of which is a cat) and baking gluten-free treats.

max's picks

native plant:
the juicy berries from the painfully pokey agarita (Berberis trifoliolata)

song:

Kelly (they/them) is a queer, nonbinary, white, disabled & chronically ill, Anti-zionist Jewish artist & musician. They have a background in DIY herbalism, working on small farms and tending to gardens. Originally from the Pacific Northwest, Kelly and their senior pup now live in so-called New Mexico. Kelly also enjoys film photography, slowly skateboarding, meeting new plants and critters, covid safety, organizing for mutual aid and being in water whenever possible. You can find their work here and follow on IG.

Kelly's picks

native plant:
the vibrant flowers of the Cholla Cactus (Cylindropuntia imbricata) and the bark of the Alligator Juniper Trees (Juniperus deppeana Steud)
